Goodbye Ankles, Hello Kankles

After a long day Friday, I realized that I am no longer in the "cute" pregnancy stage, if there really is one. I worked all day, drove to Hobbs, went to Applebees and Wal-Mart.......then I saw the dreaded kankle. With about two and a half months to go, I can only imagine the size of my kankles in the near future. Long ago (in about March) I traded all my stylish shoes for flip-flops, so I am dreading the wet and cold weather.

This weekend was spent in Hobbs shopping and relaxing, while Tim, Cody, and the boys went for an outing of their own. We attended church this morning, ate at Cattle Baron's and headed home.

Naptime is calling my name so I better go and put my feet up. We don't want those children laughing at my kankles, so we need to keep away the swelling.

Misery

The last few weeks have brought extreme backaches, heartburn, and fatigue. Some days are better than others and I just have to remember that it will all be worth it in the end. The doctor gave me some samples of prevacid and just one did the trick...I haven't had heartburn anymore. My stomach has doubled in size in just a couple of weeks.

My schedule this year consists of 6 english classes, one health class, and one conference. I pretty much have things in order, but I am not stressing out about getting every little thing done. Tim has been really good about helping me lately and rubbing my feet. Only about 80+ days to go!

The first glimpse of my face

I had my sonogram on Wednesday at 26 weeks, 3 days. I will fill you in on the details of that appointment tomorrow, since I need to get in bed already. Here is a sneak peek at Brody. He has his daddy's HUGE head, his nose, and his lips. Once again, he was camera shy and sleeping away.

My Last Week of Freedom

Good-bye days of summer! I start back to school on Friday, with an all day inservice, which is always exciting! (sarcasm) A day of sitting in an auditorium listening to a speaker doesn't sound appealing, especially when you are pregnant. At least I have an excuse to get up alot!

This past Thursday Tanya came over and stayed the night. Bryce enjoyed playing on Uncle Tim's playstation and challenging Aspen to a game of basketball. She is actually a really good rebounder, although her shot needs a little work. We got up and went to the volleyball scrimmage on Friday because I was going to keep the clock. Bryce sat in the stands and was a commentator for the game. For some reason he enjoyed repeating, "Linny's team is losing. They are losers." I guess he doesn't understand that they are not actually "my team," but they weren't playing well, so at least he recognized that. We went to Odessa for a couple of hours on Friday and then they left for Hobbs. Yesterday, Tim spent most of the day in Wink helping to put a tin roof on his brother Pete's house that they are fixing up. It will still be awhile until they can move in. Last night we enjoyed hamburgers at Phillip and Lucy's house and I got to hold Justin for the first time.

Last night I kept having nightmares that someone broke into our house. I think it was because Aspen was barking alot and then she kind of faded away and things started running through my mind and I fell back to sleep with that in my head. I wouldn't even get up to go to the restroom.lol I guess that is what happens when you watch the CSI marathon all day long.

On Wednesday I have a doctors appointment and my diagnostic ultrasound, so I am excited to see Brody since I last saw him at 16 weeks. I am contemplating whether or not to get another 4D so that I can see what he looks like and have a CD with all his photos. I know there is controversy over whether or not it is safe to have multiple sonograms, so I am still trying to decide.

And here is a letter to my dearest friends this summer:
Farewell my dear bed and couch. I have enjoyed the time spent with you the last 2 1/2 months. We will still be seeing each other after 4:00 for the next 3 months. Once baby arrives, life will never be the same for us, but I promise to attempt to lay on you every opportunity I get.

(I am not really THAT lazy, but my pregnancy has brought indigestion and an upset stomach very frequently. Plus, I have to stay inside due to the heat......it is draining)

The New Addition

On Saturday morning, little Justin Phillip Lara was born. He is the first grandson on the Lara side and son of Phillip and Lucy. Tim was very excited to meet his nephew and should be ready to hold Brody now since he has already held a newborn. They all went home to Wink on Sunday and are all doing well. Kimberly and Sidney were very excited about their new brother and I am sure they will have alot to teach him. They are both extremely bright and four year old Sidney informed us that, "That couch(you're sitting on) transforms into a bed." They both have awesome vocabularies.
